Day 5: Howe, IN

After a great stop in Cleveland for the night (thanks again to Ed/Dad and Patti for an awesome time), we hit the road for a few hundred miles of Ohio and Indiana farmland. Again we took pictures of ourselves at the state line, this time in Indiana.
The Hoosier State
While planning our route for yesterday, we noticed how close the road we were traveling was to the Michigan boarder once we crossed into the Hoosier State. The decision was an easy one. Less than a mile off of I-80/I-90 was the state line and Sturgis, MI and another photo opportunity. 3 states in one day and 5 states total for the trip.

Purely No-where
Shortly after we left the great state of Michigan, we arrived at our destination and our first night of camping at the Twin Hills Camping Resort in the heart of Amish country in Howe, IN (as in Howe the hell did we end up here?). The both of us were excited to spend a night outdoors and to set up camp for the first time on the trip.

Into the Wild

After taking about an hour and half to unpack, set up our tent, and to chop a whole bunch of wood for the night, we decided to take a break and walk a nature trail/river-walk that was right next to our campsite. Being careful to avoid any poison ivy and equally careful not to spill our drinks, we enjoyed the river walk for about 30 or 40 minutes before we decided it was getting dark and we should head back to camp. Despite some initial setbacks we got our fire going and spent the rest of the night hanging out by the fire and making some calls. We got up bright and early the next morning and headed out: next stop Chicago by way of South Bend, IN.
